Sweet Green Peas Opening for The Hummingbees

Devin Hill I shouldn't buy albums based alone on 4 songs, but I'm a sucker for folk music like this. It's rare to find freak folk that isn't basically post punk mixed with country made by pretentious art students. This actually has elements of folk in it (guessing Celtic folk) and has a catchiness to it, unlike other projects.

Sweet Green Peas opening for The Hummingbees With a bright blue brand new flower and a stem like trees Warm open place carrying smiles and sharing lace With the dancing swans and hopping frogs making playful chase

Don't you worry little seed We are all aware of what you need And I'm certain soon your roots will grow Already we have told the trees And we punctuated with a please They are waiting for your name to know Will you grow now? Will you grow? (Just a little bit of water and a song ow wow wow wow wow) Don't you worry little seed I will bring you everything you need Will you grow now that you have been sown? Will you grow now? Will you grow?

My reason's all untied Seasons running wild Feeling just like a child I race away with time Decent I go to chime Words now that seem to rhyme Leaving my own design I race away with time

Who do you know that is patient Enough for me to paint? Is she a straight-pin or Is she a little more oblate? Dit dit dit, dit dit dit, dit dit Dit dit, dit dit dit Who has the dedication To sit still and wait? Will she be blatant or Will she have to say?

Raining Song 02:13
Our friends on the ground Swept off and all around To who knows where If they come back to the lawn We'll sing a welcome song But who knows when Bow wup buh ba na na Bow wup buh ba na na na na Bow wup buh ba na na Bow wow wow wow wow Oh what a sound When the lightning hit the ground And it scattered in the air A silly thing to say That rain ruins a day What do we care

Be it up or down, you'll know you've turned round A neat, familiar tune I love looking around and finding what I can That's new... new... All of it is overmade I feel the bleak constraints are reaching to my view

We Went Away 03:18
Here in the forest they're friendly They treat me the best they can My darling blue flower is with me I've come here to hold her hand But when at last comes the day I've nothing to say It seems a waste And I Worry now it's too late How long could she stay Ought I to wait Ought I to wait Near to the forest she met me I told her about the band Though often they play strangely I hoped she could withstand But when the violin played Her attention strayed Away from all The sound Not to avoid the cliche I hid my dismay We went away We went away Deep in the forest a clearing Little was left to say We found each other endearing In rosemary bush we lay But in the distance I heard The singing of birds The concert play And I Agonizingly deferred One final word I went away I went away

Now what is makin' Makin' your life Nobody's runnin' Ridin' to you Now what is takin' Takin' your life Nobody's lovin Lying to you (it only matters what you) Make yourself something you'd like to see Take yourself away from everybody

Outbound, makin the rounds They stop by and listen Enjoying the crowd Brown gown, pulling it down She rolled in the mud Fooling around Show off, playin too rough She had her chance But sure enough Big bluff, makin it up Looking for excuses And in the buff Downtime, covered in grime Let her rest a little Before she has to climb No crime, let out a bime Everyone is happy As long as she's fine
16.
Let's sing into the setting sun So he may come again Night is just as fine for some But I prefer the day Now it seems the light is leaving Where then would it go? Quickly now the time's depleting Moonlight let us know Sun and Moon did bicker then They could not agree Sun would not hear it again He let Moon keep the sea Sing the moon to meet the Sun And think of way back when Two were often seen as one Happy giant friends (Scatting) Now it seems the night is leaving Sun's an ear to bend Come the day we will be pleading Arguments to end Moon did all she could do then Now she patiently Hopes our message well to send And that he will agree Let's sing into the rising sun So they may meet again Call the argument all done And gladly make amends
17.
In all the years that we've been here Never before was such peace beheld And the purity and innocence of the animal brain Never again such loving tears could swell Farewell to you, and forgiveness we beg For hard as we try, there's nothing we can do

Green grow the lilacs all sparklin with dew I'm lonely my darlin since parting from you By our next meeting I hope to prove true And change the green lilacs to the orange and blue I used to have a sweetheart but now I have none Since she has left me I care not for one Since she has left me contented I'll be She loves another one better than me I passed my love's window both early and late The look that she gave me, it made my heart ache The look that she gave me was painful to see She loves another one better than me I wrote my love letters in rosy red lines She sent me an answer all twisted in twine Sayin "Keep your love letters, I will keep mine Just write to your love and I'll write to mine" Green grow the lilacs all sparklin with dew I'm lonely my darlin since parting from you By our next meeting our love will renew And change the green lilacs to the orange and blue
