I pick up the leftover bricks from the floor
And pile them off to the side
There they'll be staying for weeks, maybe more
Until I can really decide
I'd love a nice planter, a terraced brick one
With vines spilling all down the sides
I'm dreaming in gardens of sweet marigold
And ground that is covered to lie
What a surprise that I would find inside
My ginger had a-sprouted
Though oft it was true that I'd cook with the root
My thoughts had been without it
But now I'd gone and found it
Eager to make this a workable thing
I set it to root in some water
Days later reaching were roots from the sprout
So soon set I off for the potter
Watching it was an incredible thing
Each day grew notably taller
Stunted it was by an odd broken wing
That seemed to completely stop it
But from sprout's side I saw it
Healthy and green was it stretching along
And once when I went to water
Three times I checked I had seen it correct
My plant seemed to have had a daughter
A beautiful little daughter
A beautiful little sprout
A beautiful thing that I can see
And I am so happy about
A beautiful thing to water
A beautiful pair to my spout
A beautiful life that I can share
With my beautiful ginger sprout
